This project in our neighborhood is more massive than we could imagine at first.

The work's progress continues round the clock.  Officials have pegged completion this November, just in time for Cuenca's Independence Day 2012.

By golly, we think at the rate they're going, they just might make (or even beat) the deadline!

Switching gears as we get back to our  Cuenca...

We often walk this area, so much that we tend to take it for granted.
Wide, tree-lined streets, busy traffic, fun shops and restaurants.

2 main drags of Cuenca.  You can easily catch buses and taxis on both.

So much to see and enjoy each time we walk these streets.  There is always something fun to share!

The Parade of Children, Pase del Nino (Passing of the Child),  happens each Christmas Eve in Cuenca.  It's the big event many of us wait for each year!

About 50,000 children, all in holiday outfits, fill the streets of the City.  The Parade goes on for hours, so each child can participate.  With almost 200,000 spectators, it's a huge, fun event!

Borrero.  We've been back in this neighborhood a few times.  Always something interesting to see each time.  It's a real neighborhood, folks live on the economy, streets are busy with street vendors and little shops. No fancy shops or restaurants, no imported goods, just families living their lives...
