Walking Av Luis Moreno Mora

Newcomers might be confused by some of the street names.

For instance, a street that runs through Av Solano called Av Alfanso Moreno Mora, becomes Av Luis Moreno Mora when you cross Av Solano.  Named after 2 famous brothers.  Luis was the first mayor (alcalde) elected by popular vote, Nov 1945.  Alfanso was an attorney and a famous writer.

One day, we walked down Av Luis Moreno Mora, starting at Av Solano, past the school.

Walking straight, we discovered interesting houses.

Some new construction.

Several businesses and restaurants.

Mattress shop.

Excellent yarn shop, also offers classes.

Another pic.

Next door to the yarn.

We found sushi in this neighborhood!

Another school.

Corn crop behind this wall.

You never know what you'll see on a walking adventure.

1 Week Progress on Av Solano

The first phase of the project to renovate Av Solano is going well.  Real progress in just 1 week!

These pics are for those who are as fascinated with road construction here as we are.

Fixing sidewalks is the first phase.

We got out early for the Sunday walk.  These pics were taken about 7:30am.

Workers already working.

We hope the trees survive and stay...

New pipes!

Outside a furniture shop.

The round-about at phase.

Roadwork goes all the way to Av 12 Abril.

All this work in just 1 week!   More walking pictures later.

What's Behind That Gate?

We love all the creative gates we see as we walk the neighborhoods.  We often wonder what's behind them.

Here are some nice looking solid ones...

This old gate used to hold a secret.  Walking past, you'd never know what was hidden behind this gate and high walls.  We knew, though, as we could see down into the block-size lot from our porch.  A couple llamas and a cow!  Cool!

But, recently, we saw a backhoe...  and the animals being led out this gate into a truck...Now, it's just an empty lot.  We hope the animals come back...

Pretty flowers nearby.

Fun art outside a couple nursery schools.

Shops with familiar names.

Fun 'do!

Check out the detailed paint job on this building downtown.  Talk about creative street art!

We like this one, too.  Lots of talented artists in this town.

Sunday walking pictures.

At the Square, what a great dog!

So patient with the people and all the activity.

Exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art.  The museum was closed, so we'll check it out later.

Coming out of the New Cathedral.  (Not sure what the special occasion was.)

At the San Francisco Church.

Back to weekday walking and window shopping...

Father's Day window.

VERY cute, doggie print sweater!

Happy Solstice!
