Road Trip to Guayaquil

We were delighted to make our first road trip over the Andes to Guayaquil with Chuck and Nancy.
Guayaquil is the largest city in Ecuador, right at sea level at the Coast, about a 3.5-4 hr drive from Cuenca.

We've been to Guayaquil briefly before, but by air, not by ground. So much more to see by car.

Chuck is a careful  driver and Rich, who is prone to motion sickness, was more than fine with the ride.

Here are some pictures along the way.

The scenery was beautiful!

We took a break at about 13,000 ft, chilly at this altitude.

A stop for coffee.

The lower the altitude, the more different the vegetation.  We passed banana and coffee plantations and rice fields.  The weather got warmer and a tad more humid, too, as we dropped toward the Coast.

The time passed quickly as we listened to Chuck and Nancy's great collection of tunes.

We chatted and watched the interesting scenery pass on by, including these cowboys and their herd.

Our Sunday Walk included a visit to the Iguana Park.

Wow!  Lots of very cool iguanas just hanging out.

Beautiful park.  Pond full of turtles, too.

A stroll along the water.

Wonder Woman! in a small mall nearby.

A look/see at restored architecture and statues.

We had to check out the big malls, all decorated for the holidays.
An art display at one of the malls also.

Thank You to the Watsons for including us in this very fun adventure!
