Palm Sunday

It's the beginning of Holy Week here in Cuenca.
We headed out on an overcast, a little chilly Sunday morning.

At the New Cathedral, folks were making and selling the traditional bouquets of bamboo, palm, flowers and rosemary.

Note the special weavings of the plants.  The bouquests are blessed in the Church, and then families take home the bouquets with the blessings.

Arriving just as Mass was letting out.

We didn't edit much, so that you can see the crowds and the excitement.  We took a ton of pics, but these are just a few.

Music and llamas, too.

Families spilled into the streets and the Square for photos and treats.

A good day for ice cream.
